A very special Thank You to all of you who participated last week in doing what we could for the people of West. The effort started with one guy, Jody Pena, doing what he could when he found himself on I-35 in the vicinity of West just about the time of the explosion. He loaded his truck with cases of water and headed back to the hectic scene on Wednesday night with much needed supplies.

It continued over the next two days with so many of you pitching in to collect and deliver everything from personal items to pet supplies to the people of West. All of our offices did something to reach out and let our neighbors know that we cared and we stood ready to give what we could to help them begin the process of recovery.

Kevin Wicks and Tim Cox took the time to delivery items collected in Coppell to West on Saturday morning. Linda Carithers collected donations and went shopping on her lunch hour to buy things listed on the “most needed” list. Gail Hughes brought a load of pet food so that the dogs and cats of the area would be taken care of. Donna Gum collected contributions in her neighborhood and brought them into the office.

As you can see in the pictures, my Suburban is filled up all the way to the front seats (I removed the back row and put the middle row up). And Tim Cox also took a number of boxes for his trip to West. While it is not a surprise, the generosity of the Daryl Flood team is overwhelming. The culture and philosophy “to feel a responsibility to our community” is certainly alive and well at Daryl Flood. Many people asked what was needed and then went out and purchased items. Others went through their closets on short notice last night and brought in big bags full of clothes. I am proud to be part of such a giving and caring group. I know the hundreds of people affected by the tragedy in West will appreciate these items for weeks to come.

Daryl Flood Dependable is an ideal that we do our best to live up to. It applies to the way we treat our customers, each other and the communities in which we serve. Last week was certainly a time when this ideal was lived out fully. Thank you all for making this a very special place to work.

The May 9 exam was administered to 264 candidates, and Todd Messerle, Jana Dornbusch and Jeff La Rocca were three of the 212 Worldwide ERC® members who were awarded the designation. 2011-2012 Worldwide ERC® CRP® Certification Review Board Chairman Rob Giese, SCRP, GMS, Lexicon Relocation directed the process to develop the 2012 exam, and was pleased with this year’s participation. “Professional development is critical in every economic landscape. During the recession, the value of designations was even more significant to incumbent employees and job seekers. Now that the U.S. economy is on steadier footing, professionals with a deeper understanding of our industry’s issues are in high demand, and often employers seeking mobility professionals look for the CRP® designation as an indicator of industry experience and knowledge. We are pleased to welcome 212 new CRP®s this month, and applaud the designees and their employers for successfully reaching this goal. It is my honor to have worked with my committee as we developed and rolled out this year’s exam, and I add my sincere congratulations to all of our designees.”

The CRP® program was introduced in 1990 to formally recognize Worldwide ERC® members’ knowledge of the U.S. domestic relocation industry. To earn the CRP® designation candidates need knowledge of residential real estate and appraising, corporate relocation policies and issues, relocation tax and legal issues, family relocation issues, and mobility strategies. Over 3,500 Worldwide ERC® members currently hold the CRP® designation.

Wheels of Hope is a compassion based ministry through Lake Pointe Church, in Rockwall, Texas,  which is dedicated to providing and adapting wheelchairs, walker, canes, and crutches to the disabled people in Mexico. The team consists of all volunteers who donated their time and resources to help the people of Victoria, Linares, and Piedras Negras, Mexico. Wheels of Hope is led by Pam Ragsdill who is a Physical Therapist specializing in wheelchair seating.  For the past 7 years this ministry has had the privilege of helping over 1,000 of those who cannot help themselves, in Jesus name.
