Price Isn’t Everything…But Make Sure Everything Is In The Price!
Consumers today are becoming increasingly savvy in their purchasing decisions. We welcome this trend and hope to assist potential clients in making an educated choice for the complex (and sometimes confusing) process of evaluating international moving estimates. To assure the success of your move and to avoid surprises, are a few things one should consider when moving internationally:
Specialized Move Consultants
At Daryl Flood Relocation & Logistics, we have an entire department dedicated solely to International moving. This includes your personal International Move
Manager, who understands the unique logistical requirements of international moving, as well as the background to appreciate the personal experience that the move represents for you.
Specialized Packing Crews
At Daryl Flood Relocation & Logistics, we maintain packing crews that are trained in the special requirements and extra care needed for international moves. This training includes the appropriate utilization of international grade packing materials and methods to ensure that your personal effects are safely transported to your new home. Meanwhile, all Unigroup overseas network offices are required to provide an English speaking crew foreman for our clients.
In-House Forwarding
With most companies in this industry, the transportation arrangements (“Forwarding”) are carried out by a separate central office, who is often not even the same company! At Daryl Flood Relocation & Logistics, due to our experience and expertise, we handle all Forwarding arrangements ourselves. This allows us to be more responsive to you and control the service door-to-door to be more closely tailored to your specific needs.
Unigroup Network
We utilize and partner with the extensive Unigroup Worldwide UTS Network. Since Daryl Flood Relocation & Logistics manages a large volume of corporate account business to and from various locations around the world, we negotiate preferential volume discount pricing from our service partners. We pass on that preferential pricing to all our clients, allowing our individual privately funded transferees to enjoy the same discount leverage as a large global company.
Service Level Agreement
All Unigroup Network offices adhere to an extremely thorough set of SLA standards. It covers requirements for packing, communication, warehouse and vehicle quality, office/labor staff, and more! It ensures a uniform high standard of service from Dallas to Dubai, Seattle to Singapore, Minneapolis to Moscow, and beyond.
Information Resources
We utilize the Unigroup Worldwide’s sophisticated global routing and pricing software, which processes thousands of variables to propose multiple shipment routes with varying cost, transit, and service features. Clients receive access to Unigroup Worldwide’s superior “Road Warrior” destination guides – ask to see a sample copy!
Favorable Steamship Line Contract Terms
Unigroup Worldwide leverages its global volume of business to secure discounted freight contracts with favorable terms. If you cannot take immediate delivery of your shipment, container demurrage/detention charges can cost up to $100 per day. As part of our global buying power, many of our freight contracts include extra “free time” for container utilization. If you believe you may require extra time in transit, just ask your Sales or Move Consultant for specifics for your destination.
Full Packing
Beware of any company that offers you substantial savings by allowing you to pack your international shipment yourself. For reasons of border security and import customs, self-packed shipments are frowned upon, and can cause substantial delay, physical exams, and expenses far outweighing initial savings. Packing crews that are not specialized in international packing (unlike ours) are likely to list items as “PBO” (Packed By Owner) on packing inventories. Customs officials around the world have come to recognize PBO on inventories to be a red flag. Also be aware that practically all transit insurance policies will deny any claims which are listed as PBO. At Daryl Flood International, we will allow you to pack some items yourself if you desire, but we will ask that you leave the boxes open for our crew to verify basic contents and adequacy of packing. Upon doing so, we will not list the items as PBO, for your transit and replacement protection.
Price vs. Service
Because of our cost reduction features, such as our global purchasing power and software pricing technologies, we are often able to offer clients both high quality service and also the best price! However, some companies may simply award your move to the lowest bidder for destination services, regardless of service or experience considerations. We will always balance competitive price with trustworthy service. As you evaluate your options, we encourage you to consider both factors – price and service.
Trust
You are entrusting your cherished possessions to the company you are about to select. That company’s performance will also play a large role in what is going to be an exciting but potentially stressful transition in your life. Don’t forget to ask… “Who do I trust?”
…But make sure Everything is in the Price!
