Employee Efforts Benefit Area Organizations
COPPELL, TEXAS (April 18, 2019) This spring, Daryl Flood Relocation & Logistics partnered to assist three organizations with bringing joy and hope to others.
Daryl Flood Relocation & Logistics’ Houston facility supported International Facility Management Association (IFMA) Houston in their Hug-a-Bear campaign by collecting teddy bears for donation. Our team collected 111 of the 788 bears that IFMA Houston received, making Daryl Flood Relocation & Logistics the third largest contributor in the campaign.
“This was such a fun and positive team building exercise for the Houston office,” said Andrew Bridges, Workplace Services Sales Executive. “The office and warehouse had a contest to see who could bring in more bears. I was stunned with the good-natured competition. The warehouse lost by one bear and provided a crawfish boil for the entire team.”
The collected teddy bears were donated to the Houston Police Department on March 15, 2019, for officers and firefighters to carry with them in their patrol units, fire trucks and ambulances, to be used to comfort children who have suffered a traumatic experience or crisis.
Daryl Flood Relocation & Logistics sponsored the annual Deafinitely Not Different 5k and Fun Run benefiting the Plano Regional Day School Program for the Deaf. The event was held February 23, 2019, at Vines High School in Plano, Texas.
In addition to the sponsorship, Van Operator Christian Hernandez attended on behalf of Daryl Flood Relocation & Logistics with an 18-wheeler for participants to explore.
“We love participating in the Deafinitely Not Different 5k and Fun Run,” said Jimmy Wilson, Dallas Local Operations Manager. “We’re grateful to be able to support an organization that plays such an important role in our community.”
The Plano Regional Day School Program for the Deaf provides services for over 300 families of deaf and hard of hearing students throughout Collin County and Richardson.
Financial donations raised through events like this help the school to provide experiences for their students, including preschoolers visiting a local petting zoo, middle school students attending a math competition at Rochester Institute of Technology and high school students attending Academic Bowl through Gallaudet University.
In February, the Daryl Flood Relocation & Logistics corporate office participated in a Valentine’s Day CookieGram event to raise money for Patriot PAWS, purchasing cookies to be sent to coworkers to show appreciation for their good work.
Team members ordered 220 cookies and raised a total of $440 for the Patriot PAWS organization. Additionally, Peyton, service dog in training, visited our corporate office to give a demonstration of his skills.
“It was so uplifting to watch our team show such appreciation to others and to do so while supporting an organization that makes such an impact by assisting our veterans,” said Alyssa Maxon, Talent and Compensation Supervisor. “Plus, we had a great time getting to see Peyton, the service dog in training, come in and meet the team.
Patriot PAWS trains and provides quality service dogs to disabled American veterans and others with mobile disabilities and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) at no cost, to help restore their physical and emotional independence.
