In honor of Mayflower’s Van Operator Appreciation Week, we’d like to introduce you to the people who keep Daryl Flood moving. Although our offices are based in Texas, our drivers move families all over the country. As a Daryl Flood customer, you trust our drivers in your homes and in care of your belongings. Behind the wheel, they are truly Daryl Flood Dependable. We asked our drivers to submit answers to a series of questions, here’s what Local Driver Nathan Neff had to say:
1.) What do you like most about being a Daryl Flood Driver?
We are a customer driven company. Daryl Flood truly cares for the needs of it’s customers. All be it, that can be very difficult at times, the most important person to me is the one whose home I am standing in. Satisfying their needs comes easy to me. Daryl Flood gives me the ability to run my business how I see fit and to operate in the areas that I want to.
2) Do you listen to music while on the road? What’s your sound-track?
The Black Keys – Busted
3) What’s your most memorable moving experience?
I was moving a Conoco Phillips family from Colorado Springs, CO to Bartlesville, OK. There was a winter storm coming in and they wanted to get out before it hit, so they signed my paper work and left early. They left behind a pet goldfish, that I reminded them not to forget! He rode in front on my gearshift to Oklahoma where he could stay warm. Turns out, he was a .25¢ fair goldfish, who was 5 years old. I didn’t know goldfish lived that long! As payment, Grandma baked chocolate chip cookies for transporting their beloved fish.
4) What advice would you give to customers moving for the first-time?
Educate yourself on what movers do and don’t do. Research your mover. When speaking with your consultant, be honest as to what your expectations are. Take care of your drivers and packing crew and they will take care of you. I know that sounds conceited, but I was raised to take care of the people who work for you because they will take care of you, in turn.
Nathan Neff lives in Rockwall, Texas with his wife and kids. In February, Nathan was named Daryl Flood’s 2013 Driver of the Year.
