Teaming Up for Plano Regional Day School Program for The Deaf

PLANO, TEXAS (February 26, 2018) Daryl Flood Relocation & Logistics sponsored the annual Definitely Not Different 5k and Fun Run held February 24, 2018, benefiting the Plano Regional Day School Program for the Deaf.

In addition to the sponsorship, Daryl Flood Relocation & Logistics was in attendance with an 18-wheeler for participants to explore, and a three-person team comprised of Jimmy Wilson, Kyrsten Wilson and Kendal Acosta, running the 5k.

“Despite some crazy weather, the team had a blast at the Deafinitely Not Different 5k and Fun Run,” said Dallas Local Operations Manager Jimmy Wilson. “We’re grateful to be able to participate in such a wonderful and important event, and we can’t wait for next year!”

The Plano Regional Day School Program for the Deaf provides services for over 300 families of deaf and hard of hearing students in 16 school districts throughout Collin County and Richardson. Financial donations raised through events like this help the school to provide beyond what is covered by state and federal funds. Since the race, Plano Regional Day School Program for the Deaf has been able to provide the following opportunities to improve language and socialize with peers:

• a field trip for all Deaf Ed preschool students to an airport
• a trip to an academic conference in Tennessee for four high school students
• a presenter and dinner for 8th-12th grade students to discuss social emotional needs
• a petting zoo for all preschoolers
• a trip for Itinerant students to socialize and watch the roughriders – this is important because oftentimes Itinerant students are the only kids on campus that have a hearing loss and this gives them an opportunity to be around other kids like themselves
• a trip for four middle school students to attend an academic competition in Rochester, New York
