Daryl Flood Steps in to Support Local Women’s Shelter
At Daryl Flood Relocation & Logistics, it’s the people who make a difference. We actively seek employees who are cheerful, dedicated and care for the things our customers care about most. We encourage our employees to be good corporate citizens and support the communities in which we work and live.
On one spectacular Saturday afternoon, a team of 10 employees of Daryl Flood’s Workplace Services division showed what it truly means to be Daryl Flood Dependable. They volunteered their personal time to assist Abigail’s Arms Family Crisis Center, a shelter serving women and children who are victims of domestic violence in Cooke County, move to brand new facility.
All professionally trained in office moving and industrial relocation, the volunteer crew packed, wrapped, loaded and delivered the shelter’s furniture and supplies free of charge.
Karen Landry, Client Services Manager, explains, “We have so many people at Daryl Flood who have servant’s hearts so it took very little effort to assemble volunteers willing to step in to help as the opportunity was presented.”
Daryl Flood and Abigail’s Arms were introduced through a common friend – a former Daryl Flood employee who now volunteers her time at the shelter.
Located in Gainesville, a small rural community, Abigail’s Arms operates its programs through private donations. Through these donations, the shelter was able to move its office space from an old downtown store front to a brand new 10,000 square foot facility.
In their former space, the agency could only offer counseling services and often referred clients who needed temporary housing to larger agencies. Now, they are able to serve their clients fully, with temporary housing and meeting space on site, for more than 45 women and children who need a safe place to recover from the traumas of domestic abuse.
When asked about the day’s events, Abigail’s Arms’ Director of Outreach & Media Relations, Kelly Fiore-Watson exclaimed, “I was overwhelmed with emotion on the day of the move. Everyone was so kind, so heartwarmingly dedicated to the project, it made me cry.”
For Karen and Daryl Flood’s volunteer crew members who move offices nationwide, being able to use their skills and expertise to help a local business in need was an experience they’ll never forget. For all, it was a Moving Day to remember.
