The Single Female Professional’s Guide to Choosing a Mover

Whether you are relocating for your current job or to take advantage of an opening with a new company and start building a brighter future, you still face one of the most stressful processes in life – moving.

Busy professionals have a harder time during the moving process because they tend to have significantly greater responsibilities at work that often cannot be put on hold or pushed back. Of course, if you are single, then you are also at a disadvantage here as you don’t have a partner or spouse to help.

A moving company can make all the difference, but they are not all created equal. Thankfully, there are a few things that can make choosing the right mover easier.

Information on Their Website

Save yourself time and hassle by starting your search online. Look for moving companies that provide a wealth of information about their services, their track record, their trucks and their processes right on their website.

The fewer questions you have to ask when you speak to a company rep in person, the simpler your process will be.

Pay Attention to Certification

If the company does not list its certifications, licensure and insurance information directly on their website, make sure you ask when you speak in person or on the phone.

If the company cannot provide proof of licensure, insurance and certification, avoid them.

An Inventory of Goods in Your Estimate

Don’t be satisfied with a “good enough” estimate. That is the short route to being overcharged. Make sure there is an inventory of goods included with your estimate that both you and the mover agree with.

This ensures that everything is on the table and there should not be hidden fees or charges for items that were not included in the initial estimate.

Professional Movers Protect Your Home

Moving, shifting, loading and unloading – there is significant potential for damage to either your old home or your new one. Make sure you ask what steps the company takes to protect your walls, floors, doors and other elements of the home.

Less professional moving companies will cut corners by sacrificing important equipment and tools.

After Hours Help

Make sure there is help available after hours. You should have access to a dedicated call center to answer your questions and provide information even when the office is closed.

Moving does not have to be a nightmare. Follow these tips and you will be able to find a reputable mover to help you from the beginning to the end of the process.
