What type of Valuation Protection do movers offer?
At Daryl Flood Relocation & Logistics, we offer our customers two different levels of valuation protection to help cover costs should their items get lost or damaged in transit – Basic Carrier Liability and Replacement Cost Valuation. The level of valuation protection you choose upon booking a move, will determine the type and amount of reimbursement that you will receive if items are missing or damaged on Delivery Day. Here’s a brief overview of the two valuation protection plans that we offer:
Basic Carrier Liability
Basic Carrier Liability is just that — Basic. Depending on the type of move you’re making, $.60 per pound is the default coverage you receive at time of booking at no additional cost. Under Basic Carrier Liability. the valuation amount is calculated at a rate of $.60 per pound multiplied by the estimated weight of total shipment. So, if your new 40-pound Flat Screen TV is damaged in transit, under this Basic valuation protection plan, you would receive $24 to put towards a replacement TV.
Replacement Cost Valuation
Replacement Cost Valuation offers the highest level of valuation protection by our moving company. Under this plan if an item is lost or damaged beyond repair, it is replaced regardless of cost, without depreciation. Under this option, you must declare a lump sum valuation on your entire shipment with a minimum of $6.00 per pound.
It’s important that you fully understand the terms and address any concerns that you have on valuation protection with your Move Consultant at time of booking. All missing or damaged items must be documented at time of delivery by your Driver and Packing Crew on the Inventory Control forms. Your driver, will in turn, notify your Move Coordinator to begin the claims process.
